The refrigerator is an incredible invention, it allows us to preserve food for months without altering its consistency or flavor. Like any tool, you have to know how to use it, so today we will teach you what should go in your refrigerator and what not.
Outside of the Fridge:
Uncut melons, Honey, Coffee will all lose taste and may even spread odors to other foods. Honey never spoils so feel free to leave it in the pantry!
Open canned foods can develop a metallic taste due to metal acids that leach into the food from the can.
Avocados, Mangos and bananas do not ripen in the fridge, unless your goal is long preservation, leave it on the counter in a shaded area.
Tomatoes can lose their taste in the fridge and even absorb other odos, better keep them on the counter in a shaded area.
Garlic, onions, shallots, carrots, winter squash and potatoes should be in a holed paper bag instead!
Always inside the Fridge!
Berries
Fresh herbs (Cilantro, parsley, mint…. in a watered glass)
Summer squash and cucumber
Sauces, cheeses, jams
And the obvious: Milk, prepped food, etc…
